DataCol has grown dramatically over the past four years due to its success in the market. In 2002, DataCol was voted the third fastest growing company in Deloitte NZ's Fast50 competition and featured again in 2003. In 2003 DataCol also featured in the Deloitte's Asia Pacific Technology Fast500.

Since its inception DataCol has provided meter reading and meter operations in the world's most aggressively deregulated electricity sector - New Zealand.

DataCol Field Services (DFS)

DataCol currently provides contracted data collection services to electricity and gas retailers throughout New Zealand with approximately 45% share of the New Zealand meter reading market (twice the size of their nearest competitor).

This involves meter reading, data collection, processing and forwarding consumption data from homes and businesses to energy retailers. Although this service was in the past conducted by the energy utility itself, New Zealand now has a deregulated electricity industry and each electricity network services a number of electricity retailers, most of which don't consider this to be core business and sub contract to a data collection company such as DataCol.

DataCol now has the technical capability and service scalability to collect and process multi utility (water, power and gas) readings for the whole of New Zealand and other markets internationally.
